PAS DELS CAUS 2021

“Adjacent to the Pardelases ravine, the land is carved with trails to the burrows where wild rabbits live, and Foxes hunt them”

VITICULTURE: Pas dels Caus is a wine from several vineyards located in Torroja del Priorat. The land consists of mixed soils with a base of slate and clay. The grapes are harvested from vineyards planted more than twenty years ago. The vines are worked as sustainable agriculture and are being converted to Organic certification.

ELABORATION: Spontaneous fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks and in 500 L plastic bins. The must undergoes maceration for 6 to 8 days, then is slowly pressed for 12 hours. The wine finishes fermentation and aging, in 1100 L polyethylene eggs and 225 L three and four years old French oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES: Pas dels Caus is a young and fresh red wine, its character is closely linked to the vineyards and the land of Torroja del Priorat. Aromas of red fruits, cherries and raspberries predominates the nose. Notes of citrus, local flowers and wild herbs such as fennel and lavender accentuate the experience. The mouthfeel is fresh yet soft, creating a sense of plush volume. The lively tannins freshen the finish, reverberating the herbaceousness found in the nose and finally reveals its distinctive graphite minerality.

LES CAMADES 2021

"Local name given to several distinct plots of older vines."

VITICULTURE: Les Camades is a wine made from several estates surrounding the village of Torroja del Priorat. The unique terrain is composed of brown slate soils combined with clay-limestone and alluvium. The vines, planted about thirty years ago, are cultivated using sustainable agriculture practices. Organic certification is in process.

 ELABORATION: Spontaneous fermentation occurs in small food-grade plastic tanks of 500 l. Maceration continues for eight to fourteen days. The must is then pressed to finish fermentation. The wine is aged in 500 l terracotta jars and 225 l French oak barrels for fourteen months.

TASTING NOTES: Les Camades is the most classic Priorat expression of Torroja. It is a red wine aged in terracotta jars and French oak barrels. The wine is cherry red in color with bluish edges. Aromatically, at first, it shows notes of black and red fruit, such as blackberries, wild strawberries, black plum, etc. It is followed by aromatic herbs of the region, such as lavender, rosemary, thyme, etc., and sweet spices. It combines delicate spicy notes with a strong mineral expression. The wine is fresh and round on the palate, with a mature tenacity that fills the mouth, making it meaty and juicy. The acidity guides you towards the long finish. Overall the wine creates an impression of freshness and warmth like a midsummer escapade.

LA ROCA DE L’ABELLAR 2020

"The name refers to a tall, thick ancient stone located in Les Solanes, near the town of Porrera."

 VITICULTURE: La Roca de l'Abellar is created from a single plot of Grenache, the estate's only vineyard located outside the municipality of Torroja, in Porrera. The terrain is dominated by sandstones, interspersed with slate. The thirty-year-old vines are worked according to sustainable agriculture practices. Organic certification is in process.

 ELABORATION: Spontaneous fermentation occurs in small food-grade plastic tanks of 500 l. Maceration continues for eight to fourteen days. The must is then pressed to finish fermentation. The wine is aged in a 1,100 l terracotta amphorae for fourteen months.

 TASTING NOTES: La Roca de l'Abellar is a red wine from a single vineyard of 100% Grenache. The wine is garnet in color with a pale bluish rim. Aromatically, it begins by reflecting the terroir and powerful expressions of the aromatic herbs, such as lavender, rosemary, thyme, garrigue, accompanied by rose petals and citrus. On the palate, the wine begins with a slight creaminess, quickly becoming elegant and silky. Despite its muscle, it is the most ethereal wine of the house, subtle and smooth. It runs across your palate, leaving a sensation of delicacy and forthrightness. Very fine-grained tannins make up a fresh and elegant texture: combined with a delicate acidity that leads you to a very fine and persistent finish. The wine is a testament to the nuanced importance of sandstone in our terroir.

L’ESCALETA 2021

"Pays homage to an engraving of a staircase with eight steps, having a cross in the middle. Carved by the Carthusian monks of Escaladei, it sits on the riverbank in front of the ancient mill of Bardina."

 VITICULTURE: L'Escaleta is a wine from a single Carignan plot in the village of Torroja del Priorat. The terrain consists of brown and black slate soil combined with argillaceous and alluvial sediments. The vines are about forty years old and are cultivated using sustainable agriculture practices. Organic certification is in process.

ELABORATION: Spontaneous fermentation occurs in small food-grade plastic tanks of 500 l. Maceration continues for eight to fourteen days. The must is pressed to finish fermentation and is aged in a 1,100 l terracotta amphorae for fourteen months.

TASTING NOTE: L'Escaleta is 100% Carignan and expresses the full potential of this variety in Torroja. The wine is a cherry red color with flashes of blue in the middle. The first powerful aromàtic impression reminds us of violets. Gradually, lavender, blackberries, and bay leaf appear. Eventually, you find notes of charcoal and graphite. The minerality and earthiness are balanced with a string of bright fruits, indigenous herbs, flowers, and spices, creating a complex structure. It enters the palate silky and bright. The acidity quickly expands the flavors, spreading this sensation throughout the mouth. Ripe tannins melt away, revealing a measured potency that makes it very pleasant to drink. Whiffs of smoke accompany the long finish accented by notes of Mediterranean herbs and balsamic forests.

FONT DEL MOSQUIT 2022

“There is a natural spring that flows among the white grape vines near the winery. There is always a trickle of water so fine that it looks like a dragonfly’s needle”

VITICULTURE: La Font del Mosquit is a white wine from several farms located in Torroja del Priorat. The terrain is composed of various slates, argilo-calcareous stones and alluvial soil. Macabeu vines up to one hundred years old are grown under sustainable practices and are converting to Organic certification

ELABORATION: The old vine Macabeu grapes are macerated on the skins for 12 hours before pressing. The younger Macabeu and the White Garnatxa grapes are directly pressed. Assembly of the must and spontaneous fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks. The end of the fermentation and subsequent aging is done in 1,100 L polyethylene eggs.

TASTING NOTES: Staying true to its name the wine reflects the complex soils where it is grown. On the nose it is discreet, with white citrus fruit and anise seed notes that accent the graphite slate found in the vineyards. The wine truly reveals itself on the palate. Voluminous and sauve highlighted by a delicate acidity is the best description. Bright citrus and floral notes keep the wine fresh and lively.

Voluminous, generous and fresh so is La Font del Mosquit.

BRAVO! 2021

VITICULTURE: The Bravo Escós Rosé is a wine from two plots, one from Carignan and one from Syrah in the municipality of Torroja. The soil type is brown and black slate combined with calcareous clay and alluvial sediments. Grapes from young vineyards, cultivated under sustainable agriculture in conversion to organic.

ELABORATION: Spontaneous fermentation of the must occurs after direct pressing. Fermentation and subsequent aging is done in a 1,100 L polyethylene egg. 

TASTING NOTES: The Rosat de Bravo Escós is a wine with a light profile and a good nerve, where freshness is without a doubt the protagonist.

In sight: it is a wine with a very thin layer, onion skin tone.

In the nose: It is a wine with a very good intensity of red fruits, citrus and floral touches (violet, rose petal) without forgetting the Mediterranean herbs that bind it strongly to the territory such as lavender, thyme and rosemary.

In the mouth: It comes in silky and fresh, then envelops the whole mouth with a glyceric sensation followed by a lively acidity that fills us with fresh sensations that are projected at the end of the mouth ... red fruit, citrus, flowers and herbs give a very pleasant and fresh finish.
